The following information came from the internet site of "A Place Called Dover" written and illustrated by Bill Bellomy and his wife Martha.

When a person emigrated to Virginia from England, they were considered not to be leaving England since the Virginia colony was owned by the English. Therefore, the point of origin on ship records was not always noted.

It's true he was going to the New World as an indentured servant to Dorothy Pleasants, a Quaker widow, but it would be a fresh start for John.

Mrs. Pleasants would receive 50 acres of land for paying John's way to the Virginia Colony, and when John finished his indenture within four to seven years, he would be given 50 acres of his own land, a suit of clothes, and a pair of boots.

In the Henrico County, Virginia, Patent Book 10, page 329, an abstract indicated that John Bellomy was imported as an indentured servant. An abstract of this deed is found in the book, Cavaliers and Pioneers of Virginia. The abstract reads as follows:

"Dorothy Pleasants, 463 acs. (N.L.), Henrico Co, on N side of James Riv. Beg. On E. side of Woolfpit Br; adj. John Pleasants; Mr. John Woodson; & Amos Lad's line; 15 July 1717, p. 329. Imp. of 10 pers. John Bellomy, John Lyles, Thomas Allen, Hugh Rose, John Deckson, Nathl. Lomess, John Nutt, Mark Lifeholy, William Jews, Matthew Mark"

I will include a map of this property that was submitted in March of 1727.

Apparently, John finished his work with Dorothy Pleasants in March of 1717. John purchased land from Mrs. Pleasants on March 3, 1717. The land was just a few miles from the Pleasants's Plantation. John Bellimy (often misspelled) purchased, for 10 pounds, land at a place called Dover Bounded by Indian Graves Creek, 120 acres.
John apparently was a devout Christian.1 John (i) Bellomy was born at England. He immigrated to England. He married Mary (?) at Virginia, United States. John (i) Bellomy left a will in 1729; He expressed his faith in his will divinely. His will stated as follows:
"In the name of God Amen this twenty-five day of March in the year of our Lord God 1729, John Bellomy of St. James Parish in the County of Goochland being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and commend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it and for my body I commend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian-like and devout manner at His desiring of me - nothing doubting but as His General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as furthering such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life..." The will went on to say, "To wife, best bed and other items To son, John, my plantation and land, to daughter, Judah, items, All the rest to daughter, Mary"
Bill found that John died sometime between March 25, 1729 and May 21, 1729. John's widow Mary, was listed in Goochland County Court Orders Book as having been summoned to appear in Court to either accept or refuse the administration of the estate of John Bellamy, deceased. On June 17, 1729, the court was given the Last Will and Testament of John Bellamy, deceased.
He died after March 1729.
